Internal Medicine Department >Intensive Care Service

Description

The Intensive Care Service receives patients with highly complex medical or surgical pathologies – including liver transplant – that have been transferred from other Services within the Hospital or from other prepaid health insurance and social security companies. There are six beds in the Intensive Care Unit and seven in the Intermediate Care Unit, which are equipped with micro processed respirators and respiratory mechanics monitoring, plus portable pressure generators to perform non-invasive ventilation. Intermittent or continuous renal replacement therapies may be used and there are the necessary materials available to perform different types of vascular accesses. Both human and technological resources in the area are prepared to respond to the follow-up and solving of a wide variety of serious diseases. The database is linked to that of the Argentine Association of Intensive Care [Sociedad Argentina de Terapia Intensiva].
