Pediatrics Department > Pediatrics

Description

Also part of the Pediatric Department is the Outpatient Office for Pediatric Specialties: Adolescence, Nutrition, Growth and Development, Pneumonology, Neurology, Nephrology, Cardiology, Psychopathology, Neurosurgery, Infant Surgery, Orthopedics and Traumatology. There is also a Specialty Clinic, where the physicians in the Service collaborate in the care of children with chronic diseases (such as Cyst Fibrosis, Down Syndrome and those that may be suffered by children grouped under Pathologic Newborns). As for hospitalization, there are four areas: General, Clinical and Surgical Pediatric Hospitalization, Pediatric Intensive Care and Transplant Unit, Neonatology and Neonatal Intensive Care. Intermediate Care receives children discharged from the Intensive Care Unit but still under observation and children from the Nursery. Considering that hospitalization is a traumatic experience for the child and the family, every effort is made to make it easier. To this end, there is a program of games for hospitalized children that is developed with the advice of an institution specialized in this subject.
