The Neurophysiology Service performs the functional exploration of the muscles, the Central and Peripheral Nervous System and the Autonomic Nervous System. It uses highly specialized technology with for diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutic advice. Apart from confirming or not clinical assumptions, it provides a precise diagnosis of the site, type and degree of the lesion, revealing alterations not clinically detectable.

The area works together with all the other medical services, especially with Neurology, Neurosurgery, Psychiatry and Rehabilitation. The services offered include conventional electromyography, special muscles electromyography (respiratory, laryngeal, extrinsic ocular, facial, sphincter pharyngeal muscles) and automatic quantitative precision electromyography, among many others.

The equipment used, which meets the highest standards required at present, allows for the implementation of the most varied electrophysiological techniques adapted to the patients’ needs and under conditions of medical excellence.
