The Pneumonology Service is technically advanced for the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases and its professionals are highly qualified to meet the different needs of patients suffering from these conditions. The Service is divided into several areas: Lung and Cardiorespiratory Physiology Laboratory, Sleep-related Disorder Laboratory, Surgical Endoscopy Section, Tobacco Prevention Program (PROANTHAL), Pancreas Fibrocystic Disease Section and Cardiorespiratory Rehabilitation Program. Pneumonology is equipped to perform such tests as computerized spirometry bronchoprovocation testing with methacholine and measurement of lung volume by plethysmography, among many others. The Sleep related Disorder Laboratory and the Interventionist Endoscopic Section have a team of highly qualified physicians and technicians to perform various invasive and non invasive endoscopic studies. PROANTHAL, the German Hospital Tobacco Prevention Program [Programa Antitabáquico del Hospital Alemán] provides a clinical method that increases the possibilities of giving up smoking.
