Pediatrics Department > Neonatology Service

Description

There are three sectors in this Service: Healthy Newborn and Rooming-in, where all healthy newborns or those requiring minimum observation are received. Neonatal Intensive Care, responsible for caring for premature newborns and those with problems requiring highly complex attention; this area is in charge of certified neonatologists. And Intermediate Care, where children discharged from the Intensive Care Unit still requiring observation or completion of treatments are received. Children from the Nursery with abnormalities requiring observation or low complexity diagnostic studies are also admitted to this Intermediate Care Unit. Neonatology, as all the other Pediatric areas, has state of the art equipment and the support of the diagnostic services in the Hospital (Images and Laboratory). All the physicians, both the staff and the internal and external consultants, are highly experienced and renowned in the Pediatric national arena. The same can be said of the male and female nurses, who have been carefully selected.
