All kidney disease studies and treatments are performed at the Nephrology Service. Glomerulopathies are studied by percutaneous biopsies – a state of the art laboratory technique– where they are examined by immunofluorescence and electronic microscopy as well as by conventional techniques. These biopsies are performed under ecography or tomography control. Vascular diseases are studied by non-invasive methods (ecography, nuclear medicine, magnetic resonance imaging) or invasive (digital or conventional angiograms).
Treatments are completed with angioplasty or surgical methods. Moreover, metabolic and lithiasic diseases and the tubulopathies are studied with exhaustive laboratory protocols. Chronic renal failure is treated with conservative methods, apart from Hemodialysis and transplant; the Hospital has a Hemodialysis Centre and a Transplant Team to meet these needs.
