The Hospital Phlebology Service treats mainly vein diseases, especially varices, paying special attention to aesthetics, which has become more important through time. Some years ago the Service started performing video assisted surgery of perforants, a new technique to treat vein ulcers. The inventor of this technique, Professor Hauer, from the University of Munich, performed the first interventions of this kind at the German Hospital in Buenos Aires, a pioneer in this field. He shared his knowledge with the Phlebology Service and supplied them with the sophisticated instruments necessary for such procedure.
