The Emergency Centre is the access to the German Hospital for those suffering from a sudden appearance of a disease or from an unexpected situation that compromises their health. It is open 24 hours a day and is strategically situated with direct access from the street. The sector has a team of specialized doctors and nurses and a quick access to complementary tests (lab, ecography, tomography, nuclear resonance). The areas are divided into Doctor’s Offices, Boxes, an Observation Unit (OU) and a Shock room. The latter is where the patient in critical condition is supported, stabilized and adequately maintained; it has direct access to all vital support systems. It has high complexity equipment to diagnose and treat the patient under life-threatening risk: respirator, pacemaker, defibrillator, laryngoscopes and endotracheal tubes. Patients for diagnosis with abdominal or precordial pain, strong headaches, syncope, intoxication and difficult to diagnose conditions, among others, come to the OU. We also receive people for treatment due to renal colics, allergy reactions, hypertension crisis, dehydration, asthma, pyelonephritis, depression or chronic disease aggravation.
