Independent Services >Pathological Anatomy Service

Description

The Pathological Anatomy Service works in diagnostic pathology in general; this includes the oncology, hemolinphoid, cytopathology and dermopathology areas, among others. To determine neoplasic stock, to detect microorganisms and prognosis elements, Pathological Anatomy also works with conventional cytochemistry and immunocytochemistry. Electronic microscopy tests are also performed to determine the ultrastructure of analyzed tissue. This is a renowned centre within the specialty, receiving more than 9,000 annual studies, among which approximately 160 are fine needle taps. The area has German origin equipment to process and cut tissue, and state-of-the-art optic microscopes for digital microphotography and immunofluorescence, a useful technique for telepathology and interconsultation with other health centers.
